JOB QUALIFICATIONS
This position is open to candidates with 2-4 years of experience working at a top-tier investment bank or private equity firm. Candidates from strategy consulting firms with significant financial modeling experience may also be considered. Candidates must possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, enjoy working in team environments and be adept at understanding market dynamics, competitive strategies and business operations. Candidates must also have exceptional modeling skills and a deep understanding of finance and accounting. Priority will be given to candidates with strong ties to Texas.

Associates must commit to a minimum of two years. Many previous Associates have gone on to attend top business schools or taken operating positions with portfolio companies.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Associates are extensively involved in identifying compelling businesses and attractive markets, developing investment theses, reviewing investment opportunities, executing due diligence (business model, competitive landscape, industry trends, etc.), processing the transaction (deal structure, financial model, legal documents, etc.), creating the operating model, and continuing to play an integral role in strategically shaping and operationally guiding the company to a successful outcome as a member of the deal team.

This role will focus on later stage growth equity and middle market investments in more basic industries, and is not a part of our technology-focused venture capital practice.

PRIVATE WEALTH MANAGEMENT – INVESTMENT SENIOR ANALYST

A Houston-based wealth management client serving the high net worth and family wealth market seeks a hedge fund analyst to support growth of their Alternative Investment group. The role will serve as the primary focal point for both investment and operational matters dealing with the hedge fund asset class. This person will work externally with hedge fund managers and consultants, and internally with the firm’s Fund Administration team. Position reports to the CIO and will work alongside him in the areas of portfolio construction, hedge fund manager sourcing, selection and evaluation. Responsibilities and degree of independence expected to increase significantly over time.

Candidates should be intellectually curious by nature and have an undergraduate degree in Math, Economics, Finance or Accounting from a top tier university with a solid GPA. Knowledge of various equity valuation techniques and strong quantitative and analytical skills, including advanced knowledge and application of Microsoft Excel, required. Candidates must be self-starters who are able to work with minimal supervision. CFA and/or CAIA designation(s), or actively working towards one, strongly preferred. This is for an immediate start.

PRIVATE ENERGY COMPANY – CORPORATE CONTROLLER

A client, an early stage oil field products manufacturer backed by private equity investor, has requested our assistance to help them find a Corporate Controller. The company is currently using QuickBooks. The successful candidate will be able to lead conversion to a more sophisticated accounting/reporting system and manage the company accounting function, including additional staffing requirements. This role would also manage monthly and year-end financial statement preparation and capital budgeting, assist in the treasury function, ensure adequate internal controls are in place, support company operations by working with senior management to design new internal reports, interface with outside auditors, and assist CFO with ongoing responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be very hands-on and capable of managing subordinates. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as this role interfaces with senior management and investors. CPA and prior Big 4 public accounting experience a big plus. Assures Client’s operating companies, divisions and corporate office are in compliance with established guidelines (Financial and Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM), Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), senior management directives and federal, state, and local laws and regulations).

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Plan, perform, and complete financial, operational and compliance reviews of operating companies, divisions, and corporate office, reporting results and recommendations to management.
• Obtain and use job knowledge to develop a thorough understanding of Client (operating companies and corporate office) in order to achieve position requirements and become eligible for promotional opportunities. Seek to improve applicable knowledge.
• Assist in identifying problem areas and needs of Client and work towards their resolution.

Investment firm in Houston is searching for a Business Development Analyst. The Business Development Analyst will develop content and marketing materials, which include collateral (brochures, power point presentations, web copy, etc.), magazine articles, and white papers. The Analyst will distill complex investment concepts into engaging client communications. The Analyst must be highly organized and work effectively with the team. The Analyst will define product differentiation and incorporate the firm’s overall positioning and values into various materials. This position will work both individually, as part of the business development team and with other groups. This person will also work with the business development team to organize and maintain the Firm’s contact relationship management system (CRM). This person must be able to work with and influence senior investment professionals within the firm with the right blend of tenacity and grace.

Controller

Successful private quantitative investment firm client is seeking a Controller. The Controller is an experienced professional responsible for the firm’s financial reporting and preparing the firm for annual audit. Experience in the investment industry or private equity industry required. The ability to interact with ultra high net worth investors is necessary. Strengths in communication, both written and verbal, are essential. Securities licenses and CPA designation are not required but would be well received. As well, a track record of dealing successfully at all levels of management is necessary.
