Associate – Job Description
Title: Associate
Description: Private investment firm is looking to hire a full-time Associate to support investment decisions in the real estate and private equity industries. The firm has over $100 million of committed capital, and is currently developing large commercial real estate projects around the world. As part of a small team, the incoming Associate will work collaboratively with all members of the team to evaluate, structure, execute, and monitor investments. Additionally, the firm is developing an internal proprietary software program in Excel utilizing VBA and ActiveX controls, and the Associate will become the project lead for this endeavor.
The person will have the opportunity to engage in a broad spectrum of activities including: real estate development, deal evaluation, transaction execution, capital raising, and debt financings. The small size of the team will offer new team members the unique opportunity to work closely with all members of the firm in an entrepreneurial environment.
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience with an investment bank, real estate investment firm, or private equity firm and possess exceptionally strong Excel modeling skills, including a very good understanding of VBA code and functions. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and financial modeling proficiency, along with outstanding written and oral communication skills. It is important for the incoming candidate to have a high degree of intellectual curiosity and be able to work in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment.

Job Description :
ORIX Capital Markets (OCM), one of the largest investors in Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) and alternative strategic investments in the country, is seeking a Portfolio Analyst within the Bond Analytics Team. OCM is a wholly owned subsidiary of ORIX USA Corporation, a diversified financial services company with over $5 Billion in assets.
Job Responsibilities
- Cash flow modeling of CMBS and CDO securities in the OCM Portfolio.
- Prepare portfolio level reports on a monthly basis.
- Review trustee reports and analyze monthly CMBS deal performance of OCM’s underlying positions.
- Track rating changes from all major rating agencies.
- Contact various investment banks to obtain dealer marks.
- Monitor a small RMBS portfolio.
- Modeling support (Excel, Trepp, and Intex) to acquire new CMBS and CDO securities.
- Track CMBS & CMBX market spreads weekly.
- Assist in monitoring of related hedges.
- Monitoring of commercial real estate assets in CMBS portfolios
Job Requirements :
- 2-3 years experience in analyzing CMBS & CDO positions for a Wall Street firm, investment manager, or hedge fund.
- Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be an expert in Microsoft Excel with high proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs, Trepp and Intex.
- Strong desire to learn, advance and participate in a dynamic environment.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player.
- Must be highly resourceful and possess the ability to operate and perform under pressure, exercising independent judgment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, math, engineering, computer science or liberal arts with strong relevant experience.
- Master’s degree and commercial real estate experience is a plus.

Our client, a successful Texas based long-short hedge fund, has retained us to help them find an Analyst to join their effort. Candidates should possess between 2-4 years of investment banking, equity research or investment analysis experience. Ideal candidates will possess two years of Wall Street bulge bracket investment banking Analyst experience within a New York City or London office, have non-energy backgrounds and have Texas ties looking to “come back home” and work at a top buy-side shop.
Candidate prospects should possess outstanding analytical and communication skills and a passion for the public equities market. The role will perform equities research, investment analysis and selection and portfolio management. No MBA required as this is more of a traditional analyst role. Summer 2010 start date.
